Dr. Sharon King graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998 after receiving her Bachelor of Science from Wake Forest University.

Caring for and about animals has been a life-long passion starting at an early age. She grew up on her grandparent’s dairy farm where bottle feeding calves, milking dairy cows, and playing with the barn cats was an everyday routine. She worked part time during her years at Wake Forest with her uncle, a small animal veterinarian. It was there that she felt the call to become a small animal veterinarian. She enjoyed making a difference in the lives of people and their pets.

During veterinary school, she developed a special interest in small animal geriatric medicine and ophthalmology. These continue to still be areas that still pique her interest and are often topics of continuing education. Dr. King spends all her free time with her family. She is always in the stands watching her husband coach their three sons’ baseball teams. Their golden retriever, Bella, is a great outfielder in the back yard and their cat, Hope, is content to watch the action from the sidelines.
