Town N Country has a history of bringing interns into the hospital. They learn from us, and we learn from them as we work together. This summer we had four interns. Here’s a bit about each of them.
Lauren is in her second year of vet school at NCSU. She worked with us during surgery. Lauren share that she, “…really enjoyed being on the surgery team and furthering my technical skills. The staff was great and Dr. Bolynn taught me a lot of different surgical techniques.”
Aesha is also in her second year of vet school, but at Tufts University. She assisted urgent care and drop off veterinarian. “I enjoyed being able to apply the things I learned in vet school the most. I got to place my first catheter after learning in clinical skills and I could analyze lab work better and understand the disease processes more.”
Hallie is a senior at Elon, and is now applying to veterinary schools. She also assisted at urgent care and drop off veterinarian. “I learned all about Fear Free! I love all of the little things that TNC does to ensure their patients and their owners feel safe and cared for. The patients aren’t just animals, they’re cherished family members and best friends who deserve the best care. I didn’t realize that things like calming pheromones, music boxes, and happy visits existed or just how impactful they can be. Even in the face of emergency, TNC will take the time to ensure that every pet is getting the best and least stressful care possible!”
Caitlyn is a sophomore at Meredith. She assisted technicians working with urgent care and drop off patients. “I enjoyed learning about all that happens behind the scenes of an animal hospital.”
We are so grateful for our interns this summer! We’ll be watching each of them as they progress in their academic career, and then move into veterinary medicine. Lauren, Aesha, Hallie, and Caitlyn, you have our thanks, and our best wishes. We will miss you!
