At Town N Country, one of our core values is that we enrich our community through charitable endeavors. We’ve recently been given the opportunity to support the construction of the new Women and Children’s Shelter in Burlington, a ministry of Piedmont Rescue Mission.
Piedmont Rescue is preparing to open this shelter to serve women who have faced substance abuse, domestic violence, or homelessness. The facility will house seven to eight fully furnished two-bedroom apartments, each with a living and dining area, a full-sized bed for the mother, and bunk or single beds for children. Limited space will also be available for pregnant women.
The shelter is more than housing. It focuses on helping women rebuild their lives and get back on their feet, offering “a hand up – not a hand out”. The ministry supports women in their job search by offering transportation to interviews and providing childcare and school transportation during those times.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite others in the community to invest in a project that brings lasting hope to families in crisis. Every contribution helps build a place where women can begin again, children can thrive, and lives can be transformed through spiritual and practical support.
